When to Replace Your Boiler Published on March 04, 2017 Should you replace your boiler? Mountainwest Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple indicators to look for when deciding whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler. Age If your condensing boiler has annual maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade. Bills If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to service your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler. Discoloration If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning properly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you notice these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Mountainwest Service Experts or your gas company as soon as possible. Comfort If some of the areas in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you might need to look into upgrade alternatives.
