Service Experts Donates Over 300 Pounds of Food to Minnie's Food Pantry Published on August 20, 2016 The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Headquarters Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano. “Last September, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a vital part of this community.” Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume assistance along with budgeting and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet. Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month. “Each member of the team was so thrilled that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even took us around their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
