Happy Birthday to the Leaplings Published on February 28, 2016 2016 is a remarkable year. We will see the presidency of our first African-American president conclude. The United States will vote in a new Leader of the Free World. We may have even seen Peyton Manning’s final game. The most joyous part? The “Leaplings” can celebrate their birthday on the actual day! Yes, that’s right. That special date that only happens every four years – February 29th – is back to give Leaplings a true celebration. In recognition of this infrequent day, here are a few notable people who share the uncommon birthday: Alex Rocco Alessandro Federico Petricone, Jr., most likely known to you as Alex Rocco, portrayed Moe Green in the classic movie The Godfather. Two other movies you may know him from are The Wedding Planner and That Thing You Do! Pope Paul III Pope Paul III, born Alessandro Farnese, was the last of the Renaissance popes and the first of the Counter-Reformation. He cherished artwork and even authorized Michelangelo to paint the Last Judgment for the Sistine Chapel. Adolph Blaine Charles David Earl Frederick Gerald Hubert Irvin John Kenneth Lloyd Martin Nero Oliver Paul Quincy Randolph Sherman Thomas Uncas Victor William Xerxes Yancey Zeus Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenberdorft, Sr. Did you catch that? Did you see all 26 names making the alphabet as initials? Did you also observe that it stops with “Senior?” Yes, this fine father gave the same daunting name to his son, who, according to hearsay, learned how to articulate his entire name by the young age of three. Also, there is some debate on the spelling (and length) of the surname. One reference recorded it as Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorffwelchevoralternwarengewissenhaftschaferswessenschafewarenwohlgepflegeundsorgfaltigkeitbeschutzenvorangreifendurchihrraubgierigfeindewelchevoralternzwolfhunderttausendjahresvorandieerscheinenvonderersteerdemenschderraumschiffgenachtmittungsteinundsiebeniridiumelektrischmotorsgebrauchlichtalsseinursprungvonkraftgestartseinlangefahrthinzwischensternartigraumaufdersuchennachbarschaftdersternwelchegehabtbewohnbarplanetenkreisedrehensichundwohinderneuerassevonverstandigmenschlichkeitkonntefortpflanzenundsicherfreuenanlebenslanglichfreudeundruhemitnichteinfurchtvorangreifenvorandererintelligentgeschopfsvonhinzwischensternartigraum. Seriously, we can’t make this up. The Henriksen Siblings Crazy, right? Not only one, not just two, but three siblings were born on successive Leap Days in 1960 (Heidi), 1964 (Olav), and 1968 (Leif-Martin). Could you deal with having to share your birthday, let alone with your brother or sister? Sorry ‘boutcha Henriksens. Peter Scanavino If you aren’t aware of Peter Scanavino then you have an obligation to turn on USA and watch yourself a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit marathon. It’ll change your life and you’ll get to know Dominick ‘Sonny’ Carisi, Jr., portrayed by Leapling Peter Scanavino. Sometimes you can even catch him on the Chicago P.D. crossovers, another show you should probably check out. So this year, friends born on Leap Day, don’t stress over whether you should celebrate your unique day on February 28th or March 1st, celebrate on your true birthday. And, Happy Birthday from your friends at Mountainwest Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning!
