Football Season is Here and So Are the NCAA Favorites Published on September 01, 2016 The shout of the stadium. The smell of the fresh cut field. The taste of hotdogs just off the grill. It’s that time – college football is really here.To kick off the season, we’re here with the NCAA’s ranking of the top five teams.AlabamaEveryone knows the Crimson Tide. Last year The Odyssey Online posted a humorous article about why college football fans can’t stand Alabama, basically for no real reason…other than all the ones they listed. Number eight? “They win. A lot.” Clearly, since they’re at the top.Clemson While the Fighting Tigers also seem to be a team that people love to hate, they’ve earned their place in the top five rankings. They’ve gone to a bowl game every year since 2005 and played the Crimson Tide in the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship. They lost, so this year they’ll probably be back with more fight. OklahomaOklahoma had a devastating loss to the Fighting Tigers last season in the Orange Bowl, and then again recently when they came back with a few students missing. Several of their first-string defensive players continued their football career with the NFL making this season a bit of a rebuilding year for the Sooners. Florida SateFSU won the BCS National Championship for the 2013-2014 season, has made it to a bowl game every season since the early 90s, yadda, yadda, yadda. Can we please discuss Travis Rudolph and how he made a little boy and his mom’s whole day? This is what matters, people. When the lights go out at the end of the season the Ws versus Ls don’t matter – compassion does, love does, and building good, strong men. Thank you, Travis. You’re making us football fans proud. LSUOh the drama. While Louisiana State has made it to a bowl game every season since 2000, and has won 7 of 11 bowl games they’ve played in under Coach Les Miles, last season a group of fed up and persuasive boosters coordinated a coup to try and get Miles out. This was after three consecutive losses, so maybe the chaos has calmed after the Tigers’ win against Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl last year. But maybe not.
